"The rapid urbanisation occurring in South Africa coupled with the country’s growing scarcity of water means that our leaders face a particularly challenging responsibility in ensuring that all of us use water sparingly and cost effectively. The Watertite ‘Smart Flow’ Management System, established in 1998, has been specifically designed to help all our municipalities and local councils acquire this crucial management tool in order to conserve and regulate the reticulation of water to individual properties in the most sustainable manner. ”

The Watertite Management System has been manufactured by Watertite Conservation to meet the urgent need to effectively control and manage the supply of water to individual households.
This is recognised as crucial in South Africa's emerging democracy where vast numbers of our population are not only becoming urbanised but where indigent people very often cannot afford to pay for their water.
According to the South African Constitution all South Africans are entitled to 200 litres of water a day (6 kl per month) for free as a fundamental human right. The Watertite 'Smart Flow' Management System not only ensures that such people receive this precise quantity of water but also enables the respective authority to restrict a household’s water consumption to 200 litres a day if a household fails to pay for water consumed beyond this amount.
